The three pillars of fulfilment

Have you ever felt disconnected, lost, lacking something magical in life but just can't single out what's going on? At face value, life is great. You have a wonderful job (maybe even a booming career!), supportive family, no major financial worries and let's face it, we're all very happy to be back to living a somewhat conventional life in comparison to the $hitshow that occurred in 2020. I don't want to be the one to drop the C bomb, but Covid seems to have dissipated quite nicely for now.

However, you still feel tired, perhaps unmotivated but have no reason to complain. Things just aren't as good as they could be. I call it 'losing your mojo.' You're simply lacking a little magic.

We're all human and it happens to the best of us, however having a methodology to diagnose what's going on deep down can help to inspire the next actions you take to lift up out of this little rut that you're hanging out in.

Let's break it down into 3 pillars that add critical value to our daily lives. Vitality, Contribution and Connection. Full disclosure, I can't take credit for discovering these 3 critical points in life. There are many other authors who have referenced these which means there's plenty more reading material out there should you wish to explore further. My job is to simply share a new concept, and bring your attention to these 3 aspects of life which I firmly believe are critical to our happiness and fulfillment.

1. Vitality. This can simply be interpreted as 'health.' How healthy are you physically, mentally, emotionally? Are you exercising daily, sleeping well each night and are you conscious of your stress levels? According to Beyond Blue, a quarter of Australians will experience an anxiety condition in their lifetime so if you're feeling a little on edge, you're most certainly not alone!

Essentially, are you taking measures to look after your health? This is step one to locating the source of our 'meh' feelings. I won't provide you with a comprehensive list however top factors I would strongly encourage you to review would be; diet, exercise, sleep, mental stability. There are incredible professionals out there who can assist with any or all of the above if you do feel like one aspect has been neglected. Not sure who can help? Just ask. A personal recommendation from a friend will not only give you confidence to take action, but will save you  hours of time and money finding the right person to support you.

2. Contribution. I personally interpret this one as 'am I making a difference' or 'am I giving back?' This one might simply be fulfilled by the work you do on a daily basis. Your job may well fill this need in whatever field you specialise in and your contribution levels could be overflowing every day of your life simply through the work you do. For others, you may need to look further.

Simple acts of service can be a godsend for increasing your 'contribution' levels. Depending on how low you find yourself feeling when you ask yourself 'am I giving back?' will determine how dramatic your actions might be. You might like to find new/better ways to support your network (friends, family etc), a new volunteering project or on the larger end of the scale, a career move. As I've alluded to previously in another TEA article, never underestimate the power of giving back to others.
